Job summary

Monzo in the UK seeks a Data Director in Payments to shape seamless local payment experiences and modernise the infrastructure behind millions of transactions.

You will partner with Product, Engineering and Design to align data strategy with Payments roadmap, drive revenue, and scale a self-serve data platform across geographies and currencies.

The role offers base salary £150,000 - £200,000 plus equity and benefits, with UK remote options and visa sponsorship where needed.

Qualifications

• Experience driving payments innovation and product strategy in a fast-growing business.
• Combine deep data expertise with strong product and commercial judgement.
• Move from metrics or architecture discussions to customer strategy and pricing.
• Empathetic people leader with ability to build trust and raise performance.
• Experience growing and leading a full stack data team across Data Science and Analytics.
• Experience collaborating with senior cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Marketing and Risk.

Responsibilities

• Establish yourself as a trusted member of the Payments Leadership team, enabling better decisions across Payments and the wider Data Discipline
• Co-drive Payments strategy and product decisions with Product and Engineering, bringing Data into discovery early to shape priorities and challenge thinking
• Identify untapped opportunities for commercial optimisation, including across pricing, commercialisation, investment and customer growth
• Set the data strategy for Payments, including the operating model, team priorities, architecture, technical debt and key metrics and drivers
• Translate between technical, product and commercial perspectives to help teams make clear, high-impact decisions
• Develop and scale a high-performing team of data professionals sharing accountability for product and business outcomes.
