Job description

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a payments business analyst to support delivery of the end-to-end payment and settlement traceability capability. The role will perform application and process discovery, map payment journeys, document data and status requirements, support testing and assist the Anomaly detection and Swift resilience workstreams with shared payment-flow analysis.

Why this role is important to us

A reliable traceability view depends on detailed knowledge of how payment instructions, statuses and exceptions move across multiple systems. This role will build that evidence base and help convert it into clear requirements, tested functionality and practical operating procedures.

Join us if contributing to our Payments Business Risk and Resiliency Programs is a challenge you are up for.

What you will be responsible for
  • Conduct workshops and analysis with Operations, Client Service, Technology, Risk and application owners to document current-state payment journeys.
  • Maintain application inventories, process maps, system hand-offs, queue and exception points, ownership details and source-data references.
  • Document requirements and user stories for search, identifiers, statuses, timestamps, processing hops, alerts, exception ownership and evidence export.
  • Map UETR, end-to-end ID, internal reference, client reference and rail-specific identifiers across systems and identify correlation gaps.
  • Define and validate internal operational statuses and client-safe status labels, including masking and entitlement requirements.
  • Prepare test scenarios and data covering normal processing, screening holds, credit holds, anomaly holds, repair, stuck MQ, timeouts, NACKs, cancellations and returns.
  • Execute UAT, record evidence, raise defects and retest fixes across UI, data feeds, reports and access controls.
  • Support definition of alert ownership, response SLAs, escalation paths, operational procedures and training materials.
  • Provide traceability analysis and operations support to the anomaly detection workstream including for event visibility, case management and payment decisions.
  • Provide process and application dependency analysis to Swift Resilience planning and readiness activities.
What we value
  • Practical understanding of payment or settlement processing and operational exception handling.
  • Strong process mapping, requirements documentation, workshop and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with SWIFT or ISO 20022 messaging, payment identifiers and market acknowledgements is beneficial.
  • Ability to work with operational and technical stakeholders and manage detailed evidence.
  • Strong risk, client-data and control awareness.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, technology or a related field.
  • 5+ years of financial services experience, preferably in payments, settlement, operations or change.
  • Business analysis or process-modelling experience is preferred.
