Job summary

Banner Nutex Health is seeking a Payment Posting Team Lead to oversee posting of payments, denials, and adjustments. The role focuses on accurate documentation, timely month-end close, and interdepartmental coordination across EOB/ERA processes.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in payment posting, a strong command of written and oral communication, and the ability to train new staff while meeting strict posting deadlines.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • 5 years' work experience in Payment Posting.
  • 45+ WPM typing speed.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Detail-oriented with time management skills.
  • Computer savvy with willingness to work overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all payments, denials and adjustments.
  • Analyze EOBs, balance insurance and patient payments; perform adjustments and credits as needed for month-end close.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of EOB/ERA terms and their relation to payment processing.
  • Read and understand EOB/ERA aspects: billed amount, allowed amount, deductibles, coinsurance, co-payments.
  • Meet interdepartmental posting goals and monthly closing deadlines.
  • Post in all systems, including line-item payments and cash/credit card receipts.
  • Run and analyze balancing reports weekly to ensure accurate posting.
  • Minimize posting errors and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Conduct monthly audits of payment posters and recon sheets.
  • Train new hires in-house for 90 days and report trends to management.

Payment Posting Team lead Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all payments, denials and adjustments.
  • Analyze EOB's, balance insurance and patient payments; and perform adjustments and credits as needed all within a clearly defined month-end close goal.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOB's) or Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) Define the purpose of an EOB /ERA
  • Read and understand all aspects of an EOB/ERA - One should be able to define and verbalize how the following terms pertain to the payment process: billed amount; allowed amount; deductibles; coinsurances; co-payments.
  • Meet interdepartmental posting goals.
  • Assure the team meets monthly closing deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to post in all systems.
  • Post all line-item payments.
  • Post and document all retractions/off sets.
  • Post all cash or credit card payments.
  • Run and analyze balancing reports weekly for all team members to ensure accurate posting.
  • Minimize posting errors.
  • Maintains confidentiality and compliance with all company and patient information in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, HIPAA regulations and Company policies.
  • Monthly audits of payment posters.
  • Review and audit monthly recon sheets to ensure all missing EOBs have been received and payments posted to accounts; reversed from recon.
  • Assist management to audit credit reports and apply adjustments, as necessary.
  • Assist management audit "Paid to patient" reports and ensure all payments/adjustments have been applied.
  • Must train new hires in house for 90 days minimum.
  • Will report any trends or issues to the direct manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, required.
  • 5 years' work experience in Payment Posting
  • 45+ WPM
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication
  • Detailed Oriented and Time Management
  • Computer Savvy!! The availability to work overtime as needed.
