Job summary

CTS International is seeking Experienced Payloads Design Engineers to support the Washington Interiors Team. In this role, you will develop and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish system designs, utilizing engineering tools and performing tests to validate component compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 5+ years of experience and a strong background in aerospace product designs. Opportunities for extension and full-time roles may be available.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in program or project management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document payload system requirements.
  • Perform tests to validate systems and components.
  • Support investigation of emerging technologies for future designs.

Job description

Overview

Company is seeking Experienced Payloads Design Engineers to support the Washington Interiors Team.

  • Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Successful completion of training is a contingency for this assignment - OJT or formal classroom training.

12+ months - possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Experience with engineering processes and tools; including CSDT, CATIA, ENOVIA, PDM, and associated release processes.
  • Experience with aircraft cabin and cargo engineering products and designs.
  • Experience with engineering support within a production system.
  • Experience with direct engagement working with/for aerospace suppliers or airlines.
  • Experience supporting the validation of compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with regulators.
  • Experience with Design for manufacturing.
  • Experience with Aircraft cargo compartment and handling system design, integration, and/or certification.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Basic understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.
  • Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes.
  • Company experience is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in program or project management, leading project and/or program proposals of varying complexity (including: development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.).
  • Demonstrates good problem solving skills and critical thinking.
  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences.

Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences). 5+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
