Responsibilities

Launch and Payload operations specialists to support the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Office of Space Launch (OSL). Successful candidates will serve as the focal point for launch systems planning, acquisition, integration, and operations.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing day-of-launch planning, rehearsal, and execution of launch activities
  • Supporting development and execution of project mission requirements, technical reviews, mission integration planning, Range coordination, readiness review preparation, technical procedure coordination, anomaly resolution, and Lessons Learned adjudication
  • Developing, updating, and standardizing Day-of-Launch processes, procedures, and products used by OSL personnel
  • Coordinating with Ranges, launch vehicle contractors, and program office personnel on changes to ConOps and reflecting these in preparations and rehearsals
  • Assisting in developing launch support concepts, rehearsal scenarios, and scripts
  • Preparing and tracking action items and lessons learned after readiness events
  • Providing technical analysis of hazards related to spacecraft design, ground support equipment, facilities, and processing
  • Reviewing procedures and plans for SV programs, launch vehicle integration, and other support activities
  • Conducting facility readiness walk-downs prior to vehicle arrival and propellant operations
  • Performing safety reviews and evaluations of support contractors and subcontractors
  • Ensuring implementation of range safety requirements
  • Participating in design reviews, working groups, readiness reviews, and technical meetings
  • Providing cradle-to-grave payload processing support activities
  • Supporting launch and on-orbit operations for NRO missions and partner launches
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Travel less than 25% may be required

  • Technical degree
  • Experience in all phases of space launch lifecycle
Position Levels and Qualifications

PPSE-1 (Entry Level): Supports cradle to grave payload processing activities. Requires at least Technical Level I and understanding of payload processing and launch site preparations.

PPSE-2 (Level II): Develops briefings, assessments, and supports payload processing activities. Requires at least Technical Level II, 2 years experience, and knowledge of launch policies and procedures.

PPSE-3 (Level III): Supports strategic planning and payload processing. Requires at least Technical Level III, 7 years experience, extensive knowledge of policies, procedures, and ability to analyze and resolve issues.

PPSE-4 (Level IV): Senior professional with extensive knowledge, capable of guiding others, providing risk assessments, and engaging with high-level leadership. Requires at least Technical Level IV, 10 years experience, and demonstrated leadership skills.

Compensation

The pay range is $100,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. MTSI offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and others.
