National Grid is seeking a Pay System Administrator to join the People Support Team in Syracuse. You’ll configure and test payroll systems, focus on SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll, and work with global stakeholders to optimize processes.

The role offers 2–3 days in the Syracuse office with flexibility and opportunities for training and collaboration across HR projects. Ideal candidates have HR/payroll experience, strong data analysis skills, and familiarity with SuccessFactors modules.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.Sc. degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, HR or equivalent.
  • Experience in HR/Payroll environment with employee lifecycle management.
  • Experience in SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll and integrated payroll solutions.
  • Experience with SAP S/4Hana, Workforce Software, and integration solutions would be a plus.
  • Experience with reporting and data analysis.
  • Strong teamwork and communication; ability to explain technical concepts.
  • Willingness to travel to the UK occasionally.

Job Purpose

We are looking for a passionate Pay System Administrator to join our People Support Team! The Pay Systems Administrator is responsible for day-to-day system configuration, ongoing testing, and improvements for Payroll applications. Working within the Payroll Technology Team, alongside Global Product Owners, with responsibility for SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll and other integrated applications.

This role is based out of our Syracuse office, and we'd hope to see you at least 2/3 days per week but you're welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We're happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You'll Do
  • Central technical subject matter expert and enterprise administrator. Drive the configuration and optimization of the system to support business needs globally.
  • Working with a third-party application support team to manage system configuration, architecture, role-based permissions, data integrity, and releases and monitoring and driving the resolution of defects providing guidance and testing where necessary.
  • Supporting Product Owners to develop solutions to system challenges, collect user requirements, research technical practices, engage with the SAP SuccessFactors community and user groups to stay on top of leading practices.
  • Executing and coordinating User Acceptance Testing and Regression Testing for designated system changes and defect fixes.
  • Manage your work and projects, navigate ambiguity and build collaborative relationships to enable an exceptional user experience.
  • Expected to take on responsibility that may be broader than their own work as part of Gathering requirements for enhancements and working with 3rd parties for successful solution of the Payroll System while partnering on other HR projects.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and optimizations within payroll operations, driving efficiency and enhancing business value while prioritizing the backlog
  • Facilitate power user group sessions, to provide training or updates.
  • Solves problems, communicates effectively with all stakeholders, at all levels of the organization.
  • Perform any activities as assigned by line manager.
What You'll Have
  • B.A./B.Sc. degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, Human Resources or equivalent combination of education - Desired.
  • Experience in HR, ideally in an HR Operations / Payroll environment with a focus on employee lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrable experience required in SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll and integrated payroll solutions.
  • Experience in other SuccessFactors modules (e.g. Employee Central, Time off), SAP S/4Hana, Workforce Software, integration solutions would be a plus
  • Previous experience with reporting and data analysis preferred.
  • Experience in large teams solving complex problems.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment preferred, with awareness of both UK and US legislations
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Visio or other similar software.
  • Solves problems, communicates effectively to all stakeholders, at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and analysis skills.
  • Excellent teamwork, verbal and written communication (including the ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms), as well as project and time management skills are essential.
  • Occasional travel to UK may be required for training/team/project activities on an exceptional basis

Salary between $78,000 - $85,000 dependent on experience.
