Job summary

WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Senior Paving Construction Inspector based in Eliot, ME, Portland, or Augusta. You'll oversee urban and rural pavement rehabilitation projects valued between $1 and $25 million.

Qualifications

Job description

Senior Paving Construction Inspector

WSP is seeking a Senior Paving Construction Inspector to oversee multiple types of urban and rural pavement rehabilitation or preservation projects with construction values ranging from $1‑$25 million. The role can be based out of Portland, Augusta or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee various work elements including asphalt shimming, milling, reclaiming, filling, compacting, drainage improvements, striping and other incidental items.
  • Interface with contractors and attend meetings.
  • Mentor or supervise other inspectors on behalf of resident engineer or project manager.
  • Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
  • Coordinate independent material sampling and testing.
  • Monitor maintenance of traffic.
  • Take and compile photographs to track daily progress.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • 7 years applicable experience.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
  • Average proficiency with MS WORD Suite.
  • NETTCP HMA certifications, or ability to attain within 3‑months of hiring.
  • Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems. Knowledge of Bluebeam.
  • Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.
