Job summary

Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood seeks a Gate Attendant to manage access, greet guests, and validate tickets at the grounds. You will operate scanners, monitor ingress and egress, and assist with crowd flow during performances.

This role requires strong customer service, clear communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure in outdoor venue conditions; evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are common. You will follow safety protocols and coordinate with security as needed.

Qualifications

Prior customer service experience with high-volume crowds.

Ability to stand for long periods outdoors.

Responsibilities

Greet patrons at the gates with a professional, friendly, and safety-minded attitude.
Validate tickets using electronic scanners and inspect for authenticity and policy compliance.
Manage ingress and egress, maintain crowd flow, and report safety concerns to management.
Vet service animals and monitor for prohibited items.
Address ticketing discrepancies and escalate as needed to security or management.
Follow emergency protocols and assist during evacuations or weather-related incidents.
