Job summary

The City of Sheridan Police Department is seeking Police Officers and Lateral Officers to join a dedicated team protecting Sheridan’s residents and visitors. Applicants must hold Colorado POST certification or state equivalent and have a minimum of two years patrol duty while employed as a sworn officer.

Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are essential. Candidates must be 21 by hire date, be eligible to work in the United States, and pass a POST-certified academy,

Qualifications

• Colorado POST certification or state equivalent.
• Currently employed full-time as a police officer by a state, county, or municipal police or sheriff’s department.
• Must be 21 years of age by hire date.
• No felony convictions or convictions that would bar firearm possession.
• Must pass a POST certified academy and be POST certified.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned area to deter illegal activities and identify criminal activity.
• Responds to dispatch calls and investigates citizen complaints and reports of breaches of the peace.
• Presents evidence by interviewing witnesses and preparing reports for court.
• Apprehends, arrests and detains suspects and processes citations.
• Provides first responder services and directs traffic as needed.
• Performs duties to promote community relations and safety.
