Qualifications

• Must be nineteen (19) years of age on date of appointment.
• Associates degree with coursework in criminal justice or related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Licensed as a police officer with an Active or Inactive status as set by MCOLES, OR licensed in another state with an equivalent status and subject to meeting MCOLES licensing requirements.
• 1-3+ years' experience as an MCOLES licensed law enforcement officer.
• Veterans with DD-214 documentation encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Patrols an assigned area on foot or in a radio-equipped cruiser to prevent crime and protect life and property.
• Responds to radio dispatches and enforces applicable laws and ordinances.
• Investigates suspicious activities; interviews witnesses and suspects; conducts searches and arrests.
• Executes warrants and subpoenas; writes tickets for infractions.
• Restores order at emergencies; assists the public; preserves evidence for prosecution.
• Maintains records and prepares reports; provides information and assistance to the public.
• Maintains vehicle and equipment; may work with other agencies as needed.
