Job summary

Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort seeks a Patrol Dispatch team member to answer phones, assist aid room guests, and dispatch patrollers as needed, documenting daily operations and weather and lift related events.

You will coordinate aid room activities using the 1Risk system, maintain logs, handle emergency calls, assist with patient care, and communicate with other departments while upholding safety.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and write legibly and complete records and report forms.
  • Must be aware of ski area terrain and facilities.
  • Mandatory EMR (Advanced CPR/First Aid/AED).
  • Preferred EMT or OEC certification.
  • Must qualify through the Dodge Ridge Fleet Safety Program with a valid driver’s license and DMV record clearance to operate a snowmobile.
  • Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
  • Good physical condition; ability to shovel, lift and carry.
  • Safety and risk oriented.
  • Role requires host skills to approach guests politely and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate aid room and dispatch operations using the 1Risk dispatch system.
  • Maintain patrol daily log and document weather data, lift open/close times.
  • Review daily incident forms and report issues to Patrol Manager.
  • Handle emergency calls and dispatch personnel.
  • Assist with patient care and reporting problems.
  • Inventory base patrol supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with SAR documentation and lift evacuations.
  • Maintain weekly summary sheet and aid room logs.
  • Communicate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide timely weather and slope information to guests.

Ski Patrol is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service on or off the mountain. In addition to emergency rescues and mountain safety, Ski Patrollers are hosts, guides, and information centers.

The primary job focus of Patrol Dispatch is to answer phones, assist aid room guests, call and dispatch patrollers as needed, document all happenings during the day of mountain operations. Examples would be injuries, chair lift opening times, chair lift early closure times, chair lift code 9 and or code 10, lost persons, EMS ambulance and/or helicopter pickups, etc..

Duties:

  • Coordinate aid room and dispatch operations using 1Risk dispatch system in an efficient and thorough manner.
  • Maintain patrol daily log, document weather data, lift open and close times, etc.
  • Review daily, all ski patrol incident report forms and report any problems to the Patrol Manager.
  • Handle emergency calls and dispatch personnel.
  • Take part in assisting with patient care and reporting problems.
  • Inventory of base patrol supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with documentation during S.A.R.
  • Assist with documentation during lift evacuations.
  • Maintain weekly summary sheet.
  • Maintain medical release forms.
  • Ensure the completion of daily patrol aid room work logs.
  • Effectively communicate with other departments as needed.
  • Maintain safe and easy access in and around the aid room.
  • Keep adequate stock of all forms utilized in patrol aid room.
  • Maintain any appropriate records as set forth by company policy and procedures.
  • Provide timely and accurate information concerning weather conditions, grooming or slope conditions and related information intended to help the guest maximize their skiing experience.
  • Communicate problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency matters.
Job Qualifications
  • Ability to read and to write legibly and to use good composition skills to complete records and report forms.
  • Must be aware of the ski areas terrain and facilities.
  • Preferred EMT or OEC
  • Mandatory EMR (Advanced CPR/First Aid/AED)
  • Computer, basic mathematical skills and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for its care and safe operation.
  • Must qualify through the Dodge Ridge Fleet Safety Program by possessing a valid driver’s license and passing a satisfactory DMV record check to operate a snowmobile.
  • Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
  • Good physical condition as this position requires shoveling, lifting and carrying.
  • Safety and risk oriented.
  • Requires the skills of a host. This involves approaching guests in a courteous manner, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally.

Work Schedules

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge mountain employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.

. Work schedules, staffing levels and weather conditions may dictate when lunches and breaks will be taken.

You must arrange for transportation to work so you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy surfaces.

Working Conditions

At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfall, low visibility, rain and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Uniforms

To project a professional appearance at Dodge Ridge your department requires a uniform be worn, including a nametag. Please wear both at all times during your scheduled shift. Keep your uniform clean and in good repair.
