Job summary

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office seeks a deputy sheriff to patrol assigned areas, respond to calls, investigate incidents, make arrests, and testify in court as needed. You will work 12-hour rotating shifts and must meet Louisiana POST or degree-based qualifications.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old
• Citizen of the United States or a permanent resident
• High school diploma or equivalent recognized by Louisiana
• Must have one of: POST certified officer with armed duty; POST certification; 1 year military active duty; Bachelor's degree; 80+ semester hours towards Bachelor's

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned area.
• Stop cars for violations.
• Investigate loitering.
• Make arrests and issue citations.
• Respond to accidents, providing first aid and emergency services until paramedics arrive.
• Respond to dispatched calls.
• Conduct traffic, criminal and other investigations.
• Prepare detailed and well written reports.
• Testify in court in response to subpoenas
