Job summary

The Lexington County Sheriff's Office is seeking deputies to patrol county areas, respond to calls for service, enforce laws, and maintain public safety under stressful, high-risk conditions.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid South Carolina driver’s license, and Class I Law Enforcement Certification (or achievable within one year). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, be 21+ at hire, and reside in SC or relocate.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (no experience required).
• Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
• Class I Law Enforcement Certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (or ability to achieve within 1 year of hire).
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Must be 21 years old, or within 3 months of turning 21.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas, respond to calls, and maintain public safety.
• Enforce local, state, and federal laws relating to public safety and welfare.
• Assist with criminal investigations; interview witnesses and collect evidence.
• Prepare cases for prosecution and provide court testimony.
• Prepare incident reports, warrants, subpoenas, and related documentation.
