Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL invites a Health Unit Coordinator to join our team for PRN night shifts. You will support the department by documenting, charting, and coordinating with physicians and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, knowledge of medical terminology, neat handwriting, and strong organizational and computer skills, with preferred familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Sufficient knowledge of English and spelling to perform various non‑clinical duties.
• Neat and legible handwriting.
• Knowledgeable of medical terminology.
• Computer and typing skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.

• Accesses the medication room to place medications in a secure area upon arrival to the floor.
• Interacts with patients in a manner appropriate to their age, acuity, and culture.

Job Description

Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit. Notifies and calls other departments or physicians when necessary and places appropriate information on the chart, forms, computer, and electronic record. Accesses the medication room to place medications in a secure area upon arrival to the floor. Other duties as assigned. Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and accurately documents and monitor activities as needed. Interacts with patients in a manner appropriate to their age, acuity, and culture. Posts pertinent patient data in a timely manner. Responds appropriately in emergency situations. Performs indirect patient care duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge.
