Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Centralized Transporter to move patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, while ensuring comfort and safety. You will also support non-clinical clerical tasks to help the care team.

This role requires awareness of isolation precautions, ability to lift up to 35 lbs, and willingness to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends. Previous patient care exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed; watches for IV lines, pumps, monitors, and other devices.
• Maintains isolation precautions and adheres to protective requirements.
• Monitors patient comfort, safety, and status during transport within the facility.
• Reports equipment or patient problems to nurse/physician/supervisor as appropriate.
• Brings patient charts/records, reviews orders, and relays critical information to staff.
• Performs patient-related clerical and non-clinical tasks; assists/ transports/ observes patients.
• Maintains inventory of transport supplies and equipment to ensure availability.
• Cleans and reports maintenance on transport equipment.
• Follows priorities per transport tracking software or dispatcher; performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs essential functions at Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital locations.
