Job summary

St. David's South Austin Medical Center is seeking a Transporter to move patients to and from the department and assist the technologist as needed to prepare the patient for procedures.

You will support in clinical areas as well as reception desks, working closely with the healthcare team to ensure exceptional patient care and efficient diagnostic studies. The role emphasizes patient comfort and safety, verification of orders and patient identity, and proper transport and room preparation.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support is required within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from the department and assist the technologist as needed to prepare the patient for the procedure.
• Assist in clinical areas as well as the reception desks, and work closely with other healthcare team members to facilitate patient care and diagnostic studies.
• Ensure proper handling of patients with comfort and safety.
• Escort patients to and from the department, verify orders, isolation status, and patient identity.
• Operate multiple modes of transportation and ensure availability of transport equipment.
• Complete the patient safety checklist prior to transport.
• Prepare the procedure room for exams and ensure appropriate supplies are available in the room.
• Assist patients with completion of records, documents, and assessments.
• Ensure equipment is properly functioning and handle malfunctions.
