Job summary

Indiana University Health West Hospital is seeking a part-time Environmental Services transport teammate for the Day Shift (6am-3pm). You will help move patients, admissions, discharges, and equipment between departments, supporting safe and efficient patient flow.

This role emphasizes safety, infection control, and following oxygen transport policies. No prior experience required; a high school diploma or equivalent completes the requirements, with on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; IU Health transition-to-work graduates welcome.
• Training in oxygen equipment, monitoring levels and transfers.
• Ability to follow oxygen transport policy during transport.
• Able to stand, walk extensively and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks with dexterity.
• Basic patient lifting through in-service training.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from the point of service, including admissions and discharges.
• Handle varied patient and equipment transfers between service areas.

Primary Responsibilities:

Transports patients to and from the point of service, including admissions, discharges, ancillary and other service areas and perform varied patient/equipment handling duties.

Requirements:

• High school graduate or an equivalent combination of education experience from which comparable job knowledge can be acquired; to include graduates from an approved IU Health transition-to-work program.


• Requires training in all assigned competencies such as but not limited to patient oxygen equipment and monitoring of levels and amounts, patient lifting and transfers, and infection control policies.


• Requires the ability to follow oxygen transport policy and procedures, including attaching and monitoring of oxygen tank levels during transport.


• Must have the ability to frequently work in a standing position and do large amounts of walking.


• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to stoop, bend and twist while handling these weights.


• Must have the ability to use repetitive motions such as grasping, fine manipulating, medium dexterity, forearm/wrist rotation movement area used daily.


• Must have the ability to perform the basic patient lifting through in-service for proper technique.


• No experience required.

Benchmarks:

• 3 months – Master teletracking app, Maintain good attendance.


• 6 months – Independent with responsibilities assigned.


• 12 months – Totally independent, completing e-learnings and completing job responsibilities.
