Job summary

Mount Carmel is seeking a full-time Patient Transporter for the Evening shift (11:30 am – 8:00 pm EST, Monday–Friday) with weekend and holiday rotation. The Transporter moves patients, specimens and equipment throughout the facility, supporting safe, efficient patient flow in a busy hospital environment.

You will transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed, assist with entering/exiting vehicles, deliver equipment and specimens, and help with morgue transfers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR HeartSaver certification by end of orientation.
• Effective communication and patient handling skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients entering and exiting vehicles including transfers.
• Deliver equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department.
• Assist with removal of deceased bodies from units and morgue transport.

What you will do:

• Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.
• Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department.
• Assists staff with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.
• Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Or attending High School
• Licensure / Certification: CPR "HeartSaver" Required by the end of orientation.
• Experience: Prior work experience in the health care field preferred.
• Effective Communication Skills.
• Ability to lift and transport patients.
• Ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing and pulling.
