Overview

This position is responsible for the safe transportation of patients, specimens, supplies, medication, film, records, equipment, and miscellaneous items.

Responsibilities

• Performs transportation duties independently with minimal supervision.
• Safely transports patients and supplies, assessing needs and requesting assistance as necessary.
• Complies with current National Patient Safety Goals and uses correct patient identifiers.
• Follows proper hand sanitizing procedures and uses proper lifting and BSI techniques when handling patients, specimens, and medications.
• Coordinates with nursing staff and follows protocols for patient care and specimen delivery.

Performs department maintenance to ensure cleanliness and efficiency.

• Maintains and reports equipment status, stores equipment properly, and handles linen appropriately.
• Participates in cleaning and maintenance tasks, including filling portable O2 tanks.

Uses resources efficiently to promote cost-effective care.

• Completes tasks within assigned shifts, conserving supplies and managing time effectively.
• Organizes work efficiently, including locating wheelchairs and stretchers, with overtime only as authorized.

Supports medical imaging and treatment departments to meet patient needs.

• Maintains patient flow, ensures safety, and follows infection control policies.
• Interacts courteously with physicians, guests, and staff, demonstrating problem-solving skills and safety awareness.
