Endeavor Health is seeking a Patient Transport team member at Elmhurst Hospital to assist with patient movement using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds under supervision, including IV pump and oxygen connections. The position requires a high-school diploma, American Heart Association BLS for healthcare provider, and the ability to lift heavy loads.

Qualifications

• Able to work in a setting with noise, drafts, and varying temperatures while handling equipment.
• Very high energy level; capable of lifting over 50 lbs and transferring heavy loads.

Hourly Pay Range:

$18.23 - $25.52 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Position: Patient Transport
• Location: Elmhurst Hospital
• Full Time
• Hours: 12p to 8:30pm including every other weekend & rotating holiday schedule

What you will need:

Education (Required):

• High-school diploma

Certification:

o American Heart Association BLS for healthcare provider

Experience & Skills:

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Minimum six months customer service or patient transporter experience
• Work conditions include working in an area that is somewhat unpleasant due to drafts, noise, temperature variation or the like, and working with equipment or performing procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises or muscle strains.
• Functional demands are very heavy, needing very high energy level. Work requires the ability to lift over 50 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. a distance of 30 feet. Push/pull > 200 lbs. (i.e. Patients on bed, stretcher) Lateral transfer or max assist sit to stand transfer.

What you will do:

Under general supervision and according to estab?lished policies and proce?dures, transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher, bed or alternative means. This includes disconnecting and re-connecting patient’s IV pumps from the IV pole and oxygen. Delivers patient equipment to nursing floors as needed.
