Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Patient Transporter to join our team in Morristown, NJ. The role requires assisting patients to and from destinations, escorting them through the facility, and handling their belongings with care.

The position supports patient safety by assisting movement and would involve standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs. Prior CPR is preferred. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• Ability to work well under time constraints.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Navigation and handling of patient transport equipment.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient name and destination based on instructions.
• Escort patients from admitting to designated areas.
• Handle patient belongings and assist with walking or wheelchair transport.
• Transport patients within the facility using wheelchairs, beds, or carts.
• Deliver messages, mail, records, and other items as needed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Essential Function/Responsibilities:

1. Ascertains patient name, destination, mode of travel, time, and other data, following written or verbal instructions.
2. Guides or escorts incoming patients from admitting office or reception desk to designated area.
3. Carries patient's luggage.
4. Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents by falling, or transports non-ambulatory patient, using wheelchair.
5. Transports patient, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair to designated areas within facility during patient stay.
6. Delivers messages, mail, medical records, and other items.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required.
2. To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
3. Ability to work well under time constraints.
4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat and stands for long periods of time, bends, lifts, pushes and pulls up to 50 lbs.

Relevant Experience:

1. CPR certification preferred.
