Job summary

Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Patient Transporter to join our team. The position requires working a 3:00PM-11:00PM shift with rotating weekends, and offers a starting rate of $18.50/hr.

The transporter will assist patients, escort them within the facility, and handle related tasks to ensure safe and timely patient movement. Responsibilities include confirming patient details, guiding patients to destinations, and delivering items as needed.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to work well under time constraints.
• Exposure to extreme cold and heat; stands for long periods; lifts up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Ascertains patient name, destination, mode of travel, time, and other data as instructed.
• Guides or escorts patients from admitting office to designated area.
• Carries patient’s luggage.
• Assists patient in walking or transports non-ambulatory patient using wheelchair.
• Transports patient to designated areas within the facility during stay.
• Delivers messages, mail, medical records, and other items.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Function/Responsibilities:

1. Ascertains patient name, destination, mode of travel, time, and other data, following written or verbal instructions.
2. Guides or escorts incoming patients from admitting office or reception desk to designated area.
3. Carries patient's luggage.
4. Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents by falling, or transports non-ambulatory patient, using wheelchair.
5. Transports patient, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair to designated areas within facility during patient stay.
6. Delivers messages, mail, medical records, and other items.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required.
2. To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
3. Ability to work well under time constraints.
4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat and stands for long periods of time, bends, lifts, pushes and pulls up to 50 lbs.

Relevant Experience:

1. CPR certification preferred.
