Job summary

Torrance Memorial is seeking a Transporter to safely move patients between patient care areas under the direction of a registered nurse. The role also includes performing EKGs when needed and supporting unit secretary responsibilities on the Central Tower unit.

The transporter collaborates with the care team to ensure timely transports, uphold patient privacy and infection control, and assist with routine clerical tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1 year in acute or skilled nursing providing direct patient care

Responsibilities

• Transfers patients using identity band verification and assists with moving to/from gurney
• Maintains gurney safety and patient privacy during transport
• Performs EKGs when unavailable and notifies RN of results
• Supports unit secretary duties when not actively transporting or performing EKGs
• Reports changes in patient condition to RN and communicates with care team
• Responds to call lights and hospital requests promptly
• Participates in code situations as directed (Code Blue, Orange, Green, Gray, Pink, Red)
• Orientates new staff to unit, equipment and routines
