Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Ohio seeks a Patient Transporter to support Mount Carmel St. Ann's. The position requires working five 8-hour evening shifts from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with every other weekend and rotating holidays.

The transporter moves patients, specimens and equipment across the facility. Responsibilities include transporting patients by wheelchair or bed, assisting transfers, delivering supplies, greeting visitors, and maintaining safety.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent or currently in high school.
• CPR certification required by the end of orientation (HeartSaver).
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and patient care mindset.
• Physical ability to lift and transport patients and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients using wheelchair, stretcher, or bed between sites throughout the facility.
• Assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles and transfers from wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Deliver equipment and specimens; assist with removal of deceased bodies to morgue.
• Greet and guide patients and visitors to proper locations.

• This Patient Transporter will be working at Mount Carmel St. Ann's five 8-hour shifts per day from 2pm - 10:30pm with every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Position Purpose:

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Patient Transporter transports patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility.

What you will do:

• Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.
• Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department. Assists staff with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.
• Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Or attending High School
• Licensure / Certification: CPR “ HeartSaver ” Required by the end of orientation.
• Experience: Prior work experience in the health care field preferred.

• Ability to lift and transport patients.
• Ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing and pulling.
