Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking a patient transporter for the evening shift to support operations across our facilities. The role involves moving patients, equipment, and specimens while ensuring safety and quality care standards.

Responsibilities include assisting patients with transfers, delivering items to staff, and welcoming patients and visitors. A high school diploma and CPR HeartSaver certification are required, with healthcare experience preferred and opportunities for growth

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required or currently enrolled in high school.
• CPR HeartSaver certification required by end of orientation.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to lift and transport patients.
• Ability to walk/stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to designated sites.
• Assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfers from wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Deliver equipment and specimens to requesting staff; assist with removal of deceased bodies from units to morgue.
• Greet and provide information and directions to patients and visitors.

Employment Type Full time Shift Evening Shift Description Position Purpose: In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Patient Transporter transports patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility. What You Will Do

• Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.
• Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department. Assists staff with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.
• Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Or attending High School
• Licensure / Certification: CPR “HeartSaver” Required by the end of orientation.
• Experience: Prior work experience in the health care field preferred.
• Effective Communication Skills
• Ability to lift and transport patients.
• Ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing and pulling.
