Job summary

St. Joseph's/Candler is seeking a patient transport role to support hospital operations in Savannah, GA. The incumbent will ensure safe and timely transport of patients between service areas, verify patient identifiers, and prepare equipment prior to transport.

Responsibilities include checking safety gear, reporting equipment issues, and communicating critical patient information to receiving staff. No prior experience is required; GED or HS diploma preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate equivalent - GED preferred.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • None required experience is acceptable.

  • Training on safe handling devices; assess patient to determine lift equipment; use lift assist devices as needed.

Overview

To support the varied patient transportation needs within the hospital environment in a safe, efficient and timely manner to related service areas.

Core Job Functions
  • Transport jobs are accepted and completed without delay. Appropriate equipment obtained prior to arriving to floor. Patient identifiers are checked prior to moving patients.
  • Equipment is checked before every transport to ensure safety and in working order. Equipment is cleaned per department standards between each transport. Unsafe or damaged equipment is reported to team leader and taken out of service.
  • Notifies appropriate caregiver of intent to transport patient. Maintains trip sheets with complete and accurate information recorded. Communicates any pertinent patient information to receiving caregiver.
  • Training is completed on all safe handling devices. Assesses the patient to determine the most appropriate lift equipment to use on a specific patient. Lift assist devices are used on all needed transports.
