Position Summary:

Transports patients to and from various areas of the medical center, ensuring each patient reaches his/her destination quickly and safely. Under supervision, performs patient handling tasks including lifting, transferring, and repositioning patients. Utilizes patient handling equipment in accordance with guidelines to minimize injury risks.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates with medical personnel to transport patients for tests, procedures, surgery, admission, or discharge.
2. Assists patients in and out of beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, and transport vans.
3. Uses appropriate patient handling equipment, transfer devices, and protective gear in compliance with policies.
4. Demonstrates good body mechanics.
5. Works cooperatively with team members, adheres to policies, and maintains communication with supervisors.
6. Ensures mobility equipment is cleaned after each use.
7. Observes and reports patient reactions during transport.
8. Provides compassionate support to patients and families.
9. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA and OSHA.
10. Maintains a safe, clean environment and follows infection control policies.
11. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three months of related experience.
• BLS certification.
