Pay Range: $16.00 - $16.00, per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Transport patients in a safe and efficient manner throughout the hospital under the direction of supervisory personnel. Utilizes the automated transport system to perform duties. Performs routine cleaning of equipment used to transport patients. Adheres to universal infection control practices. Practices excellent customer service skills with all patients, visitors and employees.

Scheduling Requirements

• Shift: Evening
• Every other weekend and holiday
• Days to work vary
• Full Time

Essential Functions:

• Accepts jobs in a timely manner.
• Places self in progress within 5 minutes of receiving a job assignment
• Uses judgment in extending a 5-minute grace period in waiting for patients
• Notifies dispatcher of delays
• Notifies system of job complete status
• Contact dispatcher within 3-5 minutes if no job is received
• Advises nurse, nurse designee or technician when arrives at units and testing areas
• Introduces self to patient
• The transporter always checks the patient's ID band for the two identifiers before transporting the patient's name and date of birth.
• Assists the nurse or technician in transferring the patient from the bed to the transport equipment or vice versa
• Use caution when rounding corners
• Ensures brakes are used when transferring from stretcher and/or wheelchair
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information
• Identifies appropriate situations to seek assistance from nursing staff and/or security
• Recognizes and reports patient discomfort, distress or emergency situations to the nurse or technician
• Always follow infection control and handwashing precautions before, during and after transport.
