Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach is seeking a Patient Transport team member to move patients between units, inform patients of destinations, and maintain safety through proper body mechanics.

Applicants must have CPR certification or be able to obtain it during training and possess a high school diploma or GED. Strong customer service and teamwork are essential in supporting nursing staff and other personnel.

Qualifications

• CPR certification or the ability to obtain it during training.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• States name & informs patient on where they are to be transported.
• Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients.
• Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers and ensures equipment is clean and in safe operating condition.
• Notifies nursing staff when patient is leaving the unit and when patient returns to the unit.
• Ensures patient chart accompanies patient during transport.

Patient Transport Job Description Summary:

• States name & informs patient on where they are to be transported.
• Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients.
• Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers and ensure equipment is clean and in safe operating conditions.
• Notifies nursing staff when patient is leaving the unit and when patient returns back to the unit.
• Ensures that patient’s chart is alongside when being transported.
• Assures all transports are completed within the time parameters assignments.
• Collects all specimens and blood products ands safety delivers to the receiving department.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude when transporting & speaking to patients.
• Checks all oxygen cylinders prior to transport to assure tanks are full and are in safe condition.
• Correctly checks in and out of the patient transport system, and input the correct pager number when checking into work.
• Maintains CPR Certification.

Qualifications

• License/Registration/Certification CPR required or must be obtained while in training.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

• Customer service ability, develop cooperative working relationship with other staff members and all other personnel.
• Ability to transport patients in a safe, efficient and professional manner.
• Ability to operate portable radio.
