Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL, is seeking a Nursing Assistant to join our compassionate team. The role supports nurses, maintains a safe environment, and helps with patient transport and basic care across newborn to adult populations.

Qualifications

  • State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification preferred; CPR Certification required.
  • High School Diploma and Nursing Assistant Certification.
  • One year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe environment.
  • Assists nurses with transportation and other duties related to patient care.
  • Cross trains as unit secretary; covers front desk when needed, answers patient call system, telephones, monitors infant security.
  • Discontinues foley catheters and med locks as directed by RN.
  • Discharges patients when needed to facilitate L/D transfers as needed.
  • Assists in transfer of patient to an outside facility by obtaining copies of medical records.
  • Monitors infection control practices of unit visitors and ancillary support staff.
  • Assists in preparation of the unit and patient rooms for receiving admissions, transfer and post-operative patients.
  • Uses proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning and ambulating patients.
  • Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of the patient to the nurse in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide safe care to patients who are: Newborn, Adolescent, Adult.
  • Accurately takes vital signs and records in patient record promptly.
  • Distributes water, appropriately records correct intake and output when indicated within shift.
  • Weighs patients as assigned; records weights and alert nurse of weight changes.
  • Makes frequent patient rounds at least every two hours.
  • Assists nurse with post-mortem care.
  • Provides patient care as directed by licensed nurse to include but not limited to: enemas, sitz bath, blood glucose monitoring and simple dressing changes.
