The role requires proper vehicle inspections, adherence to seat-belt rules, and coordination with office staff to schedule rides. Responsibilities include maintaining travel logs, ensuring patient comfort, assisting with wheelchairs, and complying with DOT and safety

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license issued by the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Must pass Department of Transportation physical exam.
  • Alcohol/Drug screening required, including random and post-accident tests.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • Experience operating large vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients to and from Medical Centers or approved facilities.
  • Maintain travel records: stops, passengers, mileage, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Ensure passenger safety and proper use of seat belts; vehicle cleanliness.
  • Inspect vehicle before shifts; report any malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Schedule rides with Office Manager/Coordinators; confirm pickups 30 minutes prior.
  • Assist passengers with getting in/out and with mobility devices as needed.
  • Keep within a 10-mile pickup radius unless approved; maintain logs daily.

InnovaCare Management Services Company, LLCPatient Transportation DriverResponsibilities:Has a scheduled route to transport patients to and from our Medical Centers or other approved Medical facilities Maintain a travel record, such as the time at each stop, the number of passengers per day, mileage, and vehicle maintenance. Independent judgment must be exercised in handling unusual situations arising with passengers. Treat all patients in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner. The driver is responsible for the safety of the passengers. Everyone in the vehicle must wear seat belts. The vehicle is only driven by the assigned driver. The driver assumes responsibility for the care and maintenance of the vehicle. Inspects exterior and interior of the vehicle at beginning of each shift for properly operating headlights, turn signals, brake lights, interior courtesy lamps, air conditioning or heating, warning lamps, mirror adjustment, properly inflated tires, windshield wipers, vehicle damage, etc. before moving vehicle. Responsible for ensuring inside and outside of the vehicle is properly cleaned and fueled on an ongoing basis. Keep the interior of the vehicle neat and orderly. Monitors vehicle condition and alerts Office Manager and/or transportation’s Supervisor of any malfunctioning items which need attention. No food or drink allowed. The vehicle is cleaned by hand inside and out once a week, oil change, and tire rotation every 5,000 miles. Takes van to the garage for maintenance and repair as required. Any repair must have pre-approval before commitment. The driver is responsible for working with the Office Manager or designated Office member to ensure proper scheduling of patients for transportation the day before. Patients will be picked up no more than a 10 miles radius from their Medical Center unless pre-approved by Transportation’s Supervisor and/or Office manager.Driver most call patient’s day before to confirm their appointments. The driver must call the patient 30 minutes before pick up to ensure the patient is ready. Patients will be pick up 1 hr. before their appointments. Assist passengers in getting in and out of the van and other courtesies. Assist passengers in securing wheelchairs or other mobility devices. Coordinate schedule with the Office manager and patient coordinators. (Including adds or/and cancel appointments). The minimum number of patients to be transported per driver of 200 month/10 patients per day. Use daily transportation logs and fax on a daily and weekly basis to the transportation supervisor and Office manager. The vehicle is only used to pick up scheduled patients during working hours. The vehicle is parked in the medical center during non-working hours. If necessary, the ability to certify in special needs assistance training, defensive driver training, CPR, and first aid. Work is reviewed through observation and review of records. Perform related duties as required.Skills and SpecificationsExperience in the operation of large vehicles; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.The employee must possess a valid driver's license issued by the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles. Must have fewer than the following number of points on a motor vehicle record: 3 points in the past year, 6 points in the past two years, and 9 points in the past three years.Must be at least twenty- one (21) years of age.Must be able to pass the Department of Transportation physical exam.Must take and complete an Alcohol/Drug screening process, as well as at random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol tests.Innovacare participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
