Job summary

Yakama Nation seeks a Transportation Specialist to provide patient transport to medical facilities on the Yakama Reservation and surrounding communities. The role includes handling referrals, maintaining logs, and ensuring safety during travel.

The position requires lifting equipment, adherence to safety guidelines, and willingness to travel as needed. Enrolled Yakama Preference applies; drivers must hold a WA license and have a vehicle.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Yakama Nation culture and traditions.
• Ability to interpret and present information for and on behalf of patients.
• Ability to cope with patients in stressful and crisis situations.
• Ability to lift medical equipment (wheelchairs).
• Ability to operate vehicle in all types of traffic and weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to local health clinics, therapy centers, hospitals, dialysis centers and other facilities.
• Establish priorities for daily appointment schedules per program guidelines.
• Complete case management with supervisor as required.
• Conduct follow-up health care services to ensure appointments are kept.
• Counsel patients about the importance of timely medical care.
