Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking a PRN Patient Transportation Aide to ensure timely and comfortable movement of patients and equipment within the facility. The role supports admission, discharge and transfer processes, working across departments with a focus on safety and patient comfort.

As a PRN caregiver, you will respond to transport requests, assist with bed-to-wheelchair transfers and maintain transportation equipment in clean condition, while following infection control

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift and transfer patients with assistance as needed.
• Demonstrated interest and aptitude for patient care.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and their personal property using wheelchairs, carts and beds.
• Move patients to and from departments such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Radiology and more while observing safety procedures.
• Clean, sanitize and store transportation equipment and keep records as required.
• Provide wheelchairs and restock oxygen tanks; respond to transport requests with urgency.
• Notify nursing staff on arrival and complete required logs and forms.
• Verify patient identification prior to transport and follow standard precautions.
• Assist with moving patients from bed to wheelchair or stretcher under supervision.
• Coordinate with dispatchers about assignment status and delays.
• Apply infection control practices and proper body mechanics during transport.
