Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift, move, and transfer patients and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from clinical areas using appropriate equipment and transfer techniques.
• Assists patients with transfers between beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs with proper body mechanics.
• Transports laboratory specimens, medical equipment, and supplies as directed.
• Maintains and sanitizes transport equipment per infection control standards.
• Communicates effectively with nursing staff regarding patient status and needs.
• Verifies patient identification and follows privacy procedures during transport.
• Monitors patient comfort and safety during movement, including devices as needed.
• Documents transport activities in the electronic health record or designated system.
• Responds promptly to transport requests and prioritizes tasks by patient acuity.
• Adheres to hospital policies, HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
