Job summary

The University of Rochester in Rochester, NY is seeking a Transportation Center Assistant to escort and transport patients, deliver specimens and equipment, and support clinical services across the campus.

Under supervision, you will handle wheelchairs, beds, stretchers and carts, assist nursing staff with patients, and help with stock and supplies. This is a full-time, on-site role with rotating shifts at the 601 Elmwood Ave campus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift patients, supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Escort and transport patients between units, x-ray, ED, OR, and clinics.
• Assist nursing staff with restrained or heavy patients and transports of deceased patients.
• Pickup and deliver specimens, patient records, requisitions, patient mail, pharmaceuticals, etc.
• Deliver supplies and equipment from the Equipment Center; set up equipment as needed.
• Distribute meals and snacks to patients and assist with stocking linen and supplies.
• Perform cleaning of equipment and send/deliver carts on the supply transport system.
• Clerical duties as clothing room clerk.
