Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Transport Assistant within the Transportation Center to escort and transport patients and items across clinical services and units. You will assist with delivering specimens, equipment, and supplies while supporting nursing staff in routine patient care and transport operations.

Under direct supervision, you may be assigned to different areas within the department, perform equipment setup, and help train new Transport Assistants.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift patients, supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Escort and transport patients between units and departments.
• Assist nursing staff with restraints and moving heavy patients.
• Pickup and deliver specimens, records, requisitions, mail, pharmaceuticals.
• Deliver supplies and set up equipment in patient areas.
• Distribute meals and help with stocking linen.
• Perform cleaning of equipment as directed.
• Send and deliver carts on the supply transport system.
• Assist as clothing room clerk.
