Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Utilizes social skills and communicates appropriately to alleviate fears and/or anxiety of the patient.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher, ensuring safe handling to prevent falls.
• Transports patients to and from units or imaging within expected time frames and carries patient charts.
• Maintains open communication with Dispatch/Modality/Unit to notify of receipt, changes or delays.
• Handles patient support equipment safely during transport and exchanges oxygen tanks as needed.
• Picks up supplies from central supply and follows isolation PPE protocols.
• Uses two patient identifiers to correctly identify patients.
• Transports specimens to the laboratory and delivers blood products promptly.
• Participates in automated systems to assist patient throughput.
• Identifies patient needs and adapts communication for age, culture, language, and impairments.
