Job summary

University Health's UH Lakewood Medical Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Patient Transporter to safely move patients and visitors for admissions, transfers, procedures, and discharge. You will greet and assist individuals and transport patients, specimens and equipment according to department needs.

Must maintain BLS certification, have strong communication, follow instructions, lift up to 50 pounds, and complete skills training including oxygen transport and code blue.

Qualifications

• Must complete recognized BLS course and maintain certification for continued employment.
• Good verbal communication skills to interact and greet patients, families, doctors, and clinical staff.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Lifting greater than 50 pounds requires assistance.
• Ability to walk to perform basic transportation duties.
• Successful completion of skills training as designated by the department including but not limited to oxygen transport, customer service, equipment maintenance, and code blue.

Responsibilities

• Move all patients and visitors for admissions, transfers, procedures, discharge or other service needs.
• Transport patients, specimens and equipment as required.
• Greet and assist patients and visitors as directed.
• Carry out transport needs as assigned and utilize emergency skills as required.
