Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown seeks a Transportation Aide to move patients and equipment between departments, ensuring safety and timely service. You will assist nursing staff, monitor patient devices during transport, handle oxygen, disinfect gear, and support discharge transportation while adhering to hospital protocols.

The role requires strong safety awareness and a willingness to obtain HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Obtain HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire.
• Background check: WV state, and federal where applicable.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Ability to transport patients safely and monitor devices.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients or items to appropriate departments.
• Courteously greet patients and prepare for transport.
• Monitor patient devices during transport and intervene if needed.
• Transport patients with oxygen and manage oxygen tanks.
• Report patient concerns to the RN and communicate return after transport.
• Disinfect wheelchairs and stretchers after use.
• Transport patients and items to/from WVUH campus areas.
• Use patient transport dispatch system per guidelines.
• Maintain oxygen tank levels on each unit.
• Position wheelchairs and stretchers back to origin.
