Job summary

Yale NewHaven Healthʼs Bridgeport Hospital is seeking a patient transporter to move patients to diagnostic areas and between units. You will support nursing staff with transfers and deliver essential items like lab specimens and records, ensuring safety and efficiency in patient flow.

Required is the ability to read and speak English, plus good interpersonal and communication skills. Prior hospital orientation completion is preferred, with a focus on patient-centered care and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Service Response Center Supervisor, this position transports patients to diagnostic departments and from Admitting to patient units. Transports urology discharges. Assists nursing staff in transferring patients to and from transport vehicles. Administers nasal oxygen when required. Responsible for transporting lab specimens, medical records and flowers. Qualifications

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required for candidates hired on or after 05/01/2004.

EXPERIENCE

One year related experience preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Must be able to read and speak English, Good interpersonal and communication skills, Successful completion of hospital orientation, Successful completion of department orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMAND
