Job summary

Trinity Health Oakland Campus is seeking a Patient Support Technician for the Rehab Unit on a part-time basis. You will work 7:00 am – 7:00 pm under RN supervision, providing bedside care, ADL support, and basic clinical procedures to a specific patient group.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, and experience in patient care or a related program such as Medical/Surgical rotation or a Patient Care Technician certificate. DailyPay and a full benefits package start day one.

Qualifications

• 6 months direct patient care experience within past 5 years preferred.
• Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in nursing program required.
• Completion of a Patient Care Technician program with externship in acute care required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care under RN supervision, including venipuncture, EKG, glucose monitoring, and vital signs.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient nourishment in accordance with care plan.
• Support unit flow and collaborate with care team to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Position Purpose

The Patient Support Technician functions as a collaborative member of the health care team in partnership with and under supervision of the Registered Nurse utilizing principles of Relationship-Based Care, performs direct patient care to a specific group of patients and coordinates activities which relate to the flow of unit processes.

7:00 am - 7:00 pm

Status available

Part-time

Every Other Weekend and 3 Holidays per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Qualifications

• Education
• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred Experience
• 6 months direct patient care experience within past 5 years.
• Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in a nursing educational program.
• Completion of a "Patient Care Technician" program that requires successful completion of an externship in an acute care facility.

What you will do

• Provides basic bedside care and selected procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Including but not limited to: venipuncture, 12 lead EKG, basic blood glucose collection and monitoring, respiratory care (i.e. Cough and deep breathing, incentive spirometry, pulse oximetry, oxygen setup, hand held nebulizer), dressing changes, collection of vital signs, recognition of life-threatening conditions with initial responses and reporting, emptying and measuring drainage equipment.
• Performs activities of daily living (ADL) appropriate to the patient's condition under the direction of and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Performs basic nutritional support to patients such as bed set up, assistance with feeding, and collection and documentation of intake and calorie count as appropriate .
• Performs other various duties as assigned and needed. These duties may vary depending upon the unit, patient type and need, number and complexity of treatment provided. Additional duties may also include nonclinical duties consistent with meeting the needs of the patient and care team.
