Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) seeks a Patient Support Coordinator in Juneau, Alaska. The role handles patient inquiries, schedules appointments, and maintains accurate data with strong phone etiquette.

Ideal candidates have at least one year in an office or customer service role, with excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while protecting privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent - preferred.
  • 1 year of office experience or customer service experience - required.
  • 1 year call center or medical office experience - preferred.
  • Knowledge of Customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Know, understand, and demonstrate SEARHC's Mission, Core Values, and Vision in daily work.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships to support team goals and a positive work environment.
  • Protect confidentiality/privacy in verbal, written, and electronic communications or information sharing.
  • Raises concerns in an appropriate manner and according to policy.
  • Ensure all demographic and insurance information is entered into the electronic health record when scheduling.
  • Coordinate benefits when more than one insurance carrier is used.
  • Refer patients without insurance to a Financial Counselor for resolution.
  • Assist in anticipating and responding to patient needs while scheduling.
  • Trained to assist multiple locations within the SEARHC consortium.
  • Take messages clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrate exceptional phone etiquette.
  • Functions as the point of contact for identifying issues and escalating to management for resolution.
  • Completes assigned worklist related to patient demographic, insurance, medical information, and scheduling.
  • Schedule appointments for patients calling from multiple locations in Southeast Alaska.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job description

Pay Range:$25.00 - $30.04 The Patient Support Coordinator is the point of initial contact for our organization. The specifics of the role include (but are not limited to) answering the phone, managing patient queries, navigating patients, and scheduling appointments for patients all of which are approached with the requisite phone etiquette. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical and this position requires reviewing and monitoring the quality of data.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

  • Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues to contribute to the working group’s achievement of goals effectively, and to help foster a positive work environment.
  • Protects confidentiality/privacy in verbal, written, and electronic forms of communication or information sharing.
  • Raises concerns in an appropriate manner and according to policy.
  • Ensures that all demographic and insurance information is communicated and properly entered into the electronic health record while scheduling.
  • Responsible for coordination of benefits when more than one insurance carrier is used.

Additional Details: Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent - preferred.
Experience Required
  • 1 year of office experience or customer service experience - required.
  • 1 year call center or medical office experience - preferred.
