Job summary

NYU Langone Health invites applications for a Patient Support Associate-Central Nursing Service-Day Shift (35 Hours) to support unit operations and patient care activities on the assigned unit.

Under supervision, you will assist in maintaining the unit environment, set up equipment, manage supplies, and help with patient transport and safety, while ensuring regulatory compliance and effective communication across care teams.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of English evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities.
• Able to perform the job satisfactorily within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Removes linen from patient care areas and assists in changing linen on unoccupied patient beds.
• Distributes water pitchers, cups, and straws as directed by the RN.
• Assists in the management of patient belongings by conducting an inventory, securing and transporting patient belongings.
• Performs patient transport of discharged patients on occasion to meet target discharge timing.
• Prepares patients and arranges transportation prior to patient transport arrival (Future scope).
• Ensures adequate inventory of patient care supplies and re-distributes supplies across units.
• Retrieves supplies from Pneumatic Tube, Central Distribution and replenishes to locations.
• Redistributes medications picked up from the pneumatic tube system.
• Picks up and drops off medications from the inpatient pharmacy.
• Notifies SCM / Logistics Manager of non-par stocked specialty orders.
• Performs regular regulatory compliance rounds and keeps areas clean and organized.
• Facilitates exchange of emergency code carts and intubation boxes to/from Pharmacy and Central Sterile Processing.
• Transport of clinical equipment to/from various departments.
• Demonstrates understanding of infection prevention standards.
