Job summary

The 61st Street Service Corp is hiring a Patient Services Specialist II to support ColumbiaDoctors with scheduling diagnostic services, referrals, and general department information. You will work in a high-volume, service-oriented environment, handling patient inquiries and helping ensure accurate demographic and insurance data in EPIC.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in a medical scheduling or call center role, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office; bilingual

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience including proficiency in medical terminology and scheduling workflows.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and collaborative abilities in complex settings.
• MS Office proficiency; willingness to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Schedules appointment requests and notes special needs.
• Explains insurance and financial responsibilities to patients.
• Collects insurance and demographic information and enters into EPIC.
• Performs insurance verification and communicates requirements.
• Mentors other specialists and supports team discussions.
• Escalates complex issues to supervisors for resolution.
• Handles high-volume scheduling and pre-registration tasks.
• Performs general clerical duties (faxes, filing, mail).
• Contributes to workflow improvements and patient service quality.
