Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patients, managing check-in and check-out processes, and assisting with patient inquiries.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments while supporting efficient patient access and clinic operations.
  • Process and track referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications while coordinating with insurance carriers, provider offices, and patients.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, collect copays, and maintain accurate patient registration and demographic information.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments, specialty care referrals, and diagnostic testing to support continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and supporting documentation.
  • Partner with providers, medical assistants, and care teams to improve patient flow, close care gaps, and enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinic operations and patient care.

Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Patient Services Specialist I to support front office operations and coordinate patient access services within our medical clinics. The Patient Services Specialist I is responsible for ensuring a seamless patient experience through appointment scheduling, referrals, authorizations, registration, and checkout activities. This role serves as a liaison between patients, providers, payers, and clinical staff to support efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role requires fluency in both English and Spanish to support the diverse needs of our patient population.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Our organization follows an in-person work structure where the expectation is to work onsite on a daily basis. The home site for this position is 509 W Tidwell Suite 200, Houston, TX 77091.
  • The base pay range for this role is $16 - $22 per hour. This salary range represents our national target range for this role.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, providers, insurance representatives, and clinic staff.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer use throughout the workday.
  • Fast-paced medical office environment requiring attention to detail and effective multitasking.
