Description
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Patient Services Specialist I to support front office operations and coordinate patient access services within our medical clinics. The Patient Services Specialist I is responsible for ensuring a seamless patient experience through appointment scheduling, referrals, authorizations, registration, and checkout activities. This role serves as a liaison between patients, providers, payers, and clinical staff to support efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role requires fluency in both English and Spanish to support the diverse needs of our patient population.

What You'll Do
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patients, managing check-in and check-out processes, and assisting with patient inquiries.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments while supporting efficient patient access and clinic operations.
- Process and track referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications while coordinating with insurance carriers, provider offices, and patients.
- Verify insurance eligibility, collect copays, and maintain accurate patient registration and demographic information.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments, specialty care referrals, and diagnostic testing to support continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and supporting documentation.
- Partner with providers, medical assistants, and care teams to improve patient flow, close care gaps, and enhance patient satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinic operations and patient care.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical office experience preferred.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Experience with referrals, authorizations, scheduling, or patient registration preferred.
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
- Our organization follows an in-person work structure where the expectation is to work onsite on a daily basis. The home site for this position is 509 W Tidwell Suite 200, Houston, TX 77091.
- The base pay range for this role is $16 - $22 per hour. This salary range represents our national target range for this role.
- Frequent interaction with patients, providers, insurance representatives, and clinic staff.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer use throughout the workday.
- Fast-paced medical office environment requiring attention to detail and effective multitasking.
- Must maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
