Job summary

Core Dermatology is seeking an experienced Patient Services Specialist to join our on-site team. You will greet patients, schedule appointments, collect payments, verify insurance, and ensure HIPAA compliance while delivering friendly service.

Reporting to the Practice Manager, you’ll support access to care across our offices with strong communication and multitasking in a fast-paced medical office environment, based in Clinton, IA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical office and/or hospital experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Organized and able to multi-task.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct patients, clients and visitors with professionalism.
• Assist patients in scheduling appointments for multiple providers.
• Obtain demographic and financial information using screening techniques.
• Present and obtain signatures for legal/compliance documents.
• Electronically verify patients’ insurance coverage.
• Collect patient payments, co-pays, deductibles, and prepayments as needed.
• Enter daily billing information after each appointment.
• Ensure patient needs are met in a friendly and professional manner.
• Provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements.

Core Dermatology is seeking an experienced Patient Services Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time position that will be on-site.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Practice Manager, the Patient Services Specialist will serve as a liaison between patient, client and clinical staff.

The ideal candidate will greet, direct, instruct, and schedule patients, clients and visitors. In addition to receiving payments, issuing receipts, and posting payment data.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with patients to assist in access to care by answering telephone and other incoming communications in a timely and customer-service oriented manner, replying to inquiries, patient needs for information, and other parties clearly and in a timely manner.
• Assist patients in scheduling appointments for multiple providers across various office locations.
• Obtain accurate and complete demographic and financial information from patients or their representatives through established screening techniques.
• Present, explain, and obtain appropriate signatures for legal and compliance related documents.
• Electronically verify patients’ insurance coverage.
• Collect patient payments, co-pays, deductibles, prepayments, coinsurances, as necessary.
• Enter daily billing information at the end of each patient’s appointment.
• Anticipate, identify, and ensure patient needs are being met in a friendly and professional manner while ensuring their complete comfort and satisfaction.
• Providing excellent customer services on the phone and/or in person.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical office and/or hospital experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Previous experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR’s).
• Ability to deal with patients, clinical and medical staff, and the public in a professional manner.
• Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information.
• Organization skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Posses’ excellent attention to detail.

Salary Information

This is a Non-Exempt position. Pay will be based on years of experience. The budgeted hourly pay range is $16.00-$21.10.
