Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Belton, TX seeks a Patient Services Specialist to ensure smooth clinic patient flow and serve as the primary contact for patients at the Bell County Jail. You will schedule appointments, prep paperwork, receive patients, and maintain records.

The role also handles charges processing, filing insurance claims, responding to information requests, and maintaining department data.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service, office, or related experience.
• Experience with referrals and scheduling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Referral Management & Tracking: Manage referrals from provider order through appointment completion, with real-time documentation of required data.
• Appointment Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule off-site and specialty appointments, coordinate transport, verify weekly and avoid duplicates.
• Telehealth Coordination: Offer telehealth when applicable and track whether services were offered, accepted, or declined.
• Communication with External Clinics: Serve as primary contact for outside clinics and maintain updated contact information.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain real-time referral and scheduling spreadsheets for reporting and audits.
• Communication with Internal Team: Update providers and leadership on status, delays, or barriers to care.
• Other Duties: Perform additional administrative duties and support workflow improvements.
