Job summary

Avera Urology Aberdeen is seeking a front desk/registration specialist to support the clinic's reception areas. You will help patients access the clinic system for care and manage admissions with insurance verification and consent forms.

The role requires high school level education or equivalent with strong communication and organization skills. Hours are day shift, Mon–Thu 8–5 and Fri 8–1, aligned with clinic operations and patient care needs.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED Equivalent or 1-3 months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, check in, register and verify demographics and insurance.
  • Handle insurance verifications and authorizations; obtain consent signatures.
  • Scan pertinent information into the patient's record.
  • Answer calls/messages/faxes and route to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain scheduling and follow office policies for appointments.
  • Coordinate nurse, physician, and patient time to expedite care.
  • Serve patients in a friendly, efficient manner and direct to services as needed.

This position is located in the Urology department.

Hours are M-TH 8-5, Fridays 8-1

A Brief Overview

Works in the various reception areas throughout the Clinic and is responsible for helping the patients to access the Clinic's system for care.

What you will do
  • Welcomes patients, checking them in and completing registration which includes verifying demographics, insurance and collection of any service payments.
  • Responsible for insurance verifications, authorizations and getting consent and waiver forms signed as appropriate.
  • Responsible for scanning all pertinent information into the patient's record.
  • Answers and addresses calls, messages and/or faxes, routing them to appropriate individuals/departments if needed.
  • Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters.
  • Expedites delivery of care by coordinating nurse, physician, and patient time.
  • Acts as public relations agent for the physicians by serving the patients in a friendly, efficient manner.
  • Directs patients to ancillary services as needed.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience

High School or GED Equivalent or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
