US Oncology Network in Georgetown, TX, seeks a Patient Services Representative to join Texas Oncology. This full-time, Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm role has no weekends or major holidays.

The position can be Level 1 or 2 based on experience and requires handling billing, insurance verification, pre-authorization, and financial counseling for patients. You will schedule appointments and manage referrals in a fast-paced medical office.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-3 years of medical business office experience.
  • Level 2 requires 3 to 5 years medical business office experience.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule new patients, referrals, and returning patients in the computer system according to guidelines.
  • Cancel/reschedule appointments per physician schedule changes and notify clinic personnel.
  • Meet with patients to schedule all future appointments, procedures, or other exams.
  • Triage and respond to all scheduling calls in a dedicated program.
  • Accurately schedule appointments while multitasking in a fast-paced medical office.
  • Ensure all authorizations and referrals are obtained and attached to appointments to avoid denials or delays.
  • Maintain primary scheduling template including physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding and call coverage.
  • Arrange financial counseling for patients as needed.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and follow policies to improve front office efficiency.
  • Prepare correspondence, memos, forms and other typing as requested.
  • May schedule outpatient tests/surgeries/hospital admissions and obtain pre-certifications.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and procedures.

Overview

US Oncology Network is looking for a Patient Services Representative to join our team at Texas Oncology. This full-time position will support the Georgetown East location. This is a full-time Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

This position can be a level 1 or 2 based on candidate experience.

What does the Patient Services Representative I do?

Under direct supervision, performs general business office functions that may include some or all of the following: billing and claim submissions; charge capture and payment posting; insurance verification and eligibility; obtaining pre-authorization; counseling patients and families on insurance and payment issues; and account follow-up and payment resolution. As necessary, assists patients and families with obtaining community resources including, but not limited to, housing, transportation, and financial support. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Efficiently schedules new patients, patient referrals and returning patients in computer system in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines.
  • Cancels/reschedules appointments according to physician schedule changes; notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
  • Meets with patients to schedule all future appointments, procedures, or other exams needed.

  • Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office. Covers for other front office functions as requested.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, forms, and other typing as requested by supervisor.
  • May schedule outpatient appointments/testing/surgeries and hospital admissions upon request. Obtains necessary pre-certification as required. May communicate to patient about surgeries or tests being scheduled and potential prep work needed, inquiring about test specifics from necessary parties and gathering patient information as needed.
  • Where applicable, basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and surgical procedures, including coding and ability to look up codes specific to diagnosis, surgery, and scheduling procedure.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Patient Services Representative will have the following background and experience:

Level 1
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • This position is entry level and requires 0-3 years of medical business office experience.
Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements)
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years medical business office experience.
