Qualified candidates will have high school education and preferably a Medical Office Assistant program, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Completed Medical Office Assistant/Specialist program or Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
• Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Basic understanding of medical office terminology and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients promptly and cheerfully.
• Check schedules and organize patient flow; accompany patients to exam rooms; assist with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam.
• Assist physicians/nurses with procedures and charting.
• Relay instructions to patients and families; answer calls and provide information.
• Handle patient records, labs, x-rays, referrals, and forms; schedule appointments.
• Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics; manage charts for accuracy.
• Set up instruments and equipment per department protocol; restock procedure rooms.
